Devros von Inie
Lua has always been one of those places that is in a constant state of mystery. No matter how many times you drop down on the pale, barren surface, it still feels like the very first time. Remnants of a glorious empire litter it's surface like a forgotten memory, and yet feel so familiar that it almost sparks a sentiment of home. Back in its glory days it was once a powerhouse of activity and now only the occasional whisper of a breeze keeps the halls company. It's quite sorrowful to see what war does…then again, war is what drives the cogs.
He knew this palce long before the collapse or the freeze. He remembers the time his father was called for research and brought the family along for a trip. It was very lively back then, and very vibrant. Now you can almost feel the ghosts coiling around shattered pillars and crumbling rooms, their wails but a silent cry of what once was.

Many say that curiosity kills you, and while most are right there are some that dare be driven by it. Where is the fun if you don't go knocking on hels door every once in a while? Devros is a guy of many quirks, while many pull towards the negative side there are some that make him…strange. Curiosity is one of those strange quirks, and while it brought him in to some deep toruble it also build up his judgment.

A Scimitar, painted in reflecting silver and dull red, lowers upon a destroyed landing pad on Lua. Upon opening, it's not a warframe that steps out, but a boy in a helmless Verida suit. The colors somewhat mimicking the kuva guardians palette with black sleeves, red accents and a light sand like primary color to blend it all together. The boy has spiked dark hair and greenish golden eyes that hide behind busted and old glasses. Stepping forward, he takes a deep breath, stretching out and popping his bulky physique from the discomfort of the travel.

A low whine comes from behind the boy which causes him to smirk and look over his shoulder to a bulky kubrow that is almost as tall as he is.

"Come now Garhul, don't ya worry, I'll be dandy." He says in a firm and husky voice, followed by a strange accent.

The companion responds with a huff and trots to stand beside his master, rubbing his heavy and broad head against the boys side which almost knocked Devros off balance. Letting out a chuckle he rubs the kubrows head and looks ahead, to the destroyed outpost.

"If they wanted meh dead I'd probably be already. Besides, bringing a frame is not very friendly. How'd ye like it if some stranger came with a Opticor in yer home?"

The kubrow ruffles his fur and looks at Devros with dim yellow eyes and a are-you-fricking-kidding-me-right-now face. The boy chuckles at his companions expression and adds

"Better than a Lenz, eh?"

Devros smiles and starts walking ahead, to what he concluded - after days of code breaking -  to be the source of the strange message and the epicenter of the disappearing tenno. He might be walking in to certain death without a frame or a amp by his side, but it's a risk he is willing to take if he is to show them that he comes in peace and not to pick a fight. Getting sniped from afar is not really the way he wants to die, it's in fact one dumbest ways to go. And there is Garval, who is more than capable of dealing with grineer and corpus stragglers if the threat arises. Driven by the desire to figure out what's happening in this place, he continues on ahead, hoping that he doesn't end up in a ditch somewhere as soon as he steps foot near the sanctuary.

Garhul, follows close to Devros and keeps on high alert, tilting his ears to the slightest sound and keeping his nose open to any strange smells.

2/2

~The halls are dark and crumbling, with Warframe, Corpus, and Grineer bodies and weapons littering the floor, accompanied by blood stains in random splotches on the walls and floor. The walk is not a terribly long one, and ends in a room with four pillars and a broken Orokin console on the other side of the room at the edge of the platform~
(think lua challenge with the giant floating eye orb thing)

Devros von Inie
He wasn’t scared of what might find him, in fact he felt excitement boiling up from the pit of his stomach at the promise of experiencing something else apart from war and blood. He carefully advances past the decaying corpses, eying their weapons with regal glances, counting the bodies and guns as if to make sure that everything is accounted for. Wouldn’t want to have someone running around with one of those guns eh? Everything must have a pair. He shoots his companion a glance and smirks at his seriousness and alertness.

“Yes yes, it seems that there is activity ‘ere” He seems to muse to himself

Garhul wasn't as cool and collected as the boy and was very much on suspense once the bodies came. He sniffs the air and walks on light steps a few paces in front as if to make sure there are no traps or enemies to threaten Devros.

After what seemed to be a very light stroll came the spacious room with the broken console.

“Too open. Back, back”

A voice whizzed past his mind but he pushed it back and shook his head to clear it. He scans the room through his optics and eyes his companion who is already near the console which usually means that it’s safe.

Smirking he follows suit and stops in front of the broken contraption, eying it. Lifting a hand he lightly brushes it along the console as if hoping that it would open some hidden passage or spark a challenge.

Mataeru:
A voice sounds from the Shadows behind him, near the door they entered through
"You are quite brave to appear here without a Warframe Tenno... Tell me, why did you leave your protection behind?"

Devros von Inie
A low growl alerted Devros of danger a split second before the voice spoke up. The boys ears perked up and he stood in place for a moment as a curious smirk graced his lips. Finally someone arrives. Straightening up, he gracefully twirls on his heels to face the doorway once more – a action  that might make him look as if he’s a lost tap dancer that is about to ask for the nearest toilet. Devros lifts a hand and puts it on Garval’s raised hackles, while his golden eyes scan the darkness for clues of the speaker

“Cessabit”
He spoke softly to his companion, like a mother trying to soothe her child

Garhul’s aggressive stance eases up at the command and he straightens to seem less threatening, but still steps closer to the boy just in case some wandering projectiles were to fly out of somewhere. His huge and bulky appearance is enough to cover one side of Devros almost completely.

Satisfied with his companions reaction, he turns his attention back towards the darkness. With a curious grin on his face and a calm aura, he says with his husky voice - his accent seeming vanished and replaced by a more formal way of speaking

“Well…we wear our warframes in needs of aggression and I have not come in the spirit of such a thing. If one enters my house in a suit of armor it is only natural for the host to retaliate…wouldn’t you agree?”

He tilts his head a bit to the side, his eyes looking for the slightest signs of movement that would indicate the speakers location. Garval seems to do the same, his ears rotating on his head like satellites and his nose flaring – searching for a scent to track down

“Now
you tell me...am I speaking with the creator of the signal that frightened even the oh-so-great Lotus?”

Mataeru:
A Tenno steps out of the shadows, dressed in a formal attire not seen often from the Orokin Era, holding his hands at his waist in a non threatening gesture
"You are the first to enter this area without a Warframe, I am impressed by your faith... Or foolishness. I have yet to determine which governed this action.
he grins for a moment before nodding
"I am indeed the creator of that signal. Why have you sought it out?"

Devros von Inie
A chuckle escaped the boys lips when the other spoke about his way of approaching this situation. Devros is a strong believer in the head first approach cause it goes around all of the silly things that come with being careful – at least things are more fun this way. The boy brandishes many scars that show off the many results of this approach, but even if one day he  ends up without a arm or a leg cause of this he will probably keep walking in to every situation without a care about his wellbeing until he is but a puddle on a wall somewhere.  Once again he changes his way of speaking, the formality flying away somewhere as if he never spoke it and in it’s place comes a more gruff voice and a accent that sounds like it belongs to old Earth.

“Ayeh, you guessed right, it’s teh fool that walks in to danger without a knife”

He pauses to motion to himself with a hand, gesturing for the other to see him from head to toe

“But lookie ‘ere I’m still in one piece. Playing the fool pays off eh?”

Devros taps his companions side twice and approaches the unknown tenno on light strides. Garval protests to the command with a grunt, but still obeys and stays in place, watching the shadows for more danger and especially a close eye on the unknown one just in case he hides a weapon somewhere.

With a friendly expression on his face, he will stop close to the fellow tenno and extend a hand for a handshake. It doesn’t matter if the other accepts or declines as he says in his husky voice

“Congratulations are in order first. I’ve never seen teh Lotus so frightened of somefing…or of somewhere. To think she’d pull us back from a sacred place like Lua. I had to come and see for meself if the rumors are true.”

He chuckles, seemingly to himself, before continuing.

“Tell tell, is it true what ye said in teh message? Do ye really believe teh cycle of war, in a system driven by it, can be broken?”

He tilts his head, like a curious puppy awaiting for a treat.(edited)

Mataeru:
He raises his eyebrow and watches the Tenno approach, ultimately taking his hand and gently shaking it
"If I did not believe it could end, I would not be searching for like-minded people to help me fight it. I have been watching the galaxy for thirty five years, learning, and planning. And now, I am ready to make a move, I just need more numbers. However, you mentioned "us" when speaking about the Lotus... Do you... Work for her?"

Devros von Inie
What shocked Devros, was the fact that this guy in front of him looks very much like him for someone to have spent thirty years wandering about. He pauses for a moment in silence, looking over the other from top to bottom as if looking for the catch. Like damn son…Devros just might just ask what lotion he uses to look so fresh. Joking aside – if this guy truly did spend over thirty tears just sneaking about then he wasn’t one to wake when the Lotus called to arms. Did his pod malfunction? Or perhaps he’s under the command of someone else? Lots of questions and a lots of mines to go around.

At the Lotus question, Devros lifts his hand to scratch his cheek in a light manner while his yellowish eyes gaze at the other

“I s’pose that can be said…”

He pauses for a moment, lowering his hand and clasping them both behind his back in a more regal stance while his words become even more slurred, more drenched in his loopy accent which sounds like he is being slapped with a fish across the face while speaking

“After teh awakenin' i’ve fought for 'er fer years, believin' in 'er ways. 'owever…

His eyes trail to the side as if he’s looking at someone behind the other tenno, or listening to silent words that nobody else hears before snapping his attention back to him

“…she is not de answer ter dis war. we are not 'er sheep an' me bein' 'ere is a clear violashun av 'er ward” (violashun is violation and ward is word…in speech they sound like it but when writing it, it might seem wonky to pronounce xD)

His aura shifted from cheerful and friendly to serious and stern during the speech, as if someone just flipped a switch in his head which caused his whole way or speaking to go down in the drain.

“So naw, scon are in me weck workin' for 'er….not anymore. oi chucker not want ter partake in 'er games” (So no, I am not working for her….not anymore. I do not want to partake in her games)

He takes in a breath of air to calm himself. Opening his eyes he fastens a friendly smile once more and leashes back his accent a bit

“So waaat is dis move yer spoke av dat can end a centuries long squabble?”

He found himself even more curious than before. Devros, like many of the tenno, have lived for battle for a long time, trained and purposely kept alive for only that use. Can they truly steer their lives away from it and leave in peace once more?

Heh…peace…did that ever exist?

Mataeru:
He listens intently, and struggles a little bit to understand what is being said but he nods in acceptance
"Well, if you are no longer working with the Lotus, and are here, I assume you would like to join forces with myself and the Other Tenno here?"

Devros von Inie
A wide grin spread across his face and he will lift his hand in the air to playfully slap it on the others shoulder.  Devros has always been quick to physical contact and has little knowledge about how much he can venture in other peoples personal bubbles, but if the other tenno slaps his hand away in time or rejects the contact then it won’t bother Devros that much, he’s used to getting smacked across the face for acting too friendly…even with some of the infested

“Aye, I’d like that.”
He booms in a cheerful voice “If ye truly workin' for peace in de system den ye 'av me skills ter yer use.”

Devros looks over his shoulder to his companion who’s been patiently waiting. Smiling, he softly slaps his leg twice, which is one of the commands for follow, and Garval quickly leaps towards his lifelong friend. The huge beast almost towers over the two children as he stands by Devros but won’t appear threatening at all, maybe a bit cautious of the stranger but overall won’t go biting hands. Giving his kubrow a good scratch behind the ear for being good, Devros will look back at the other fellow

“I be Devros and dis ‘ere is Garhul. Don’t be fooled by his appearance, he just a big ol’ softie”

Garval reacts to Devros’s scratches by opening his mouth to panth and leaning in to the touch – which might just topple the boy due to the massiveness of his companion

“So is dare a procedure in ter joinin'? a blud pact? sum spittin'?”

He was of course joking about the matter, which the other can tell by his playful smirk.(edited)

Mataeru:
He looks at the hand on his shoulder and carefully lifts it off by  one of the fingers and steps back as the Kubrow nears
"The procedure was this discussion. If you no longer serve the Lotus, then you are not a threat. Come, I will lead you to our base of operations."

Devros von Inie

“Serious fella, ain’t he?”
Devros thought to himself as he nodded his head and followed close behind with Garval.

“So I never got yer name or of this group ye speak of. Or even who’s in charge”

He glances at the other from the corner of his eye as they walk

Mataeru:
"I apologise, I meant to introduce myself, but I forgot as your Kubrow approached."
He pauses and turns to face Devros, bowing deeply
"My name is Mataeru Lloria. Leader of the Orokin Remnant."

Devros von Inie
The bow caught Devros off guard and the stopped mid step to lean back a bit and give Mataeru some space. Garval also reacts to his masters action and quickly stopped mid walk, freezing like a statue. It’s been so long since he’s been in the presence of other Orokin that he forgot how formal and rigid the “handling” was. It’s one of the things Devros is glad to be rid off since the awakening, no more adults to boss you around…well apart from Lotus that is.

“Hm?”
Devros thought to himself. Well, if he’s really been around for more than thirty years then I suppose he’s fine to run a whole organisation under the Lotus’s nose.

“Ah? so you’re not a fan av kubrows? or is it jist 'is size?”

He asks in a curious tone. Devros noticed how Mataeru backed away a few steps when Garhul approached but decided not to voice it. Then again, if Garhul makes people uncomfortable then he’ll have to hold him back at the Orbiter.

Mataeru:
"I have always favored Kavats... And that is not a Kubrow, it is a small steed.."
he chuckles and gestures Devros to follow him once more
"Kubrows and I have never been on the best of terms... The Orokin Learned that quickly, after they started training us, and when they finally returned my Kavat from the Zariman to me, they realized that we work in tandem far better than I ever had with a Kubrow."

Devros von Inie
Devros joined in on the chuckle, finding it relaxing that the other fellow was loosening up a bit. Matareu is right, Garhul is big enough to gloriously ride in to battle and perhaps he might do if he’s feeling adventurous…or drunk. But then again, he’s more useful in guarding than he is in charging.

Nodding to the gesture, Devros once again follows Mataeru on light strides, with his hands clasped behind his back. Garhul follows close behind, occasionally glancing at the shadows and twirling his pointy ears, as if waiting for something to jump out.

“Ah? so it seems yer an' oi are on opposite ends av de spectre. Garval wus given ter me durin' de trainin' as both a companion an' support. Oi couldn’t imagine me life witout him. 'e’s 'ad me back through lashings….even whaen most av em were caused by me”

He laughed and looks over his shoulder to his trailing friend

“I never expected 'imself ter git so big tho. He eats almost as much as de infestashun”

He joked, to which Garhul shot him a glare and a huff, and Devros just mocked a kiss back. Looking straight ahead he adds

“But hey, I guess everyone 'av things they loike or don’t, 'tis natural. Oi jist 'ope yer got a stable at yer stashun for dis fella”

He points with this thumb over his shoulder to Garhul.

Mataeru:
"That we do not. The Orokin had us keep our pets aboard our landing craft and Obiters. Although we were allowed to bring them onto the base."
they travelled for a few minutes longer before reaching a dead end. After a touch from Mata the wall slides back revealing a much shorter hallway
"Through here is our current command center."

Devros von Inie
Huh…interesting. It looks like Mataeru was working with a different training group cause the Orokin that was in charge of Devros’s division was fine with him bringing Garval wherever he went. Then again the kubrow was tied to him as a rock, to keep him mentally stable so maybe that’s why he was allowed to have him almost everywhere in the facilities.

The short walk down the hall was passed in silence and Devros watched as his new acquired colleague touches and opens the walls to lead down a different hallway.

“Secrets, passages, take it! Take it!”
A voice whizzed past Devros’s mind but he ignored it entirely once more, not having the will to deal with it right now. However it did affect his mood a bit and his trademark grin just melted away from his face

“Very well hidden, no wonder some returned speaking of finding nothing but ghosts*

He spoke completely clear with no accent in sight. Stopping, he look behind him and then back at Mataeru

“Do you want me to tell him to wait here or can he come along?”

Devros may be a first class brute and a dolt, but he knows the struggle of getting Garhul's fur out of EVERYTHING – and well…there may be some people that won’t enjoy his company so he doesn’t want to cause a row in the base on his first day(edited)

Mataeru:
he shakes his head
"Your Kubrow can come, just keep him off the furniture."
he then steps past the door and into the short hall, gesturing Devros to follow him

Devros von Inie
Devros smiles and nods in acknowledgement, his spirit somewhat lifting. Garhul is very obedient and well behaved so he doubts that there will be any clashes on that matter – in fact he’s more behaved than Devros. He just hopes that he doesn’t cause anyone discomfort.

Looking over his shoulder be motions to his kubrow that he can continue to follow him before he himself follows the other

“So you’ve been down 'ere for t'airty foive years 'uh? ye also cleave ties wi' Lotus or…

He let his word trail off for the other to fill. Devros concluded that Mataeru doesn’t seem to belong to the tenno who’ve been awakened by her, or maybe he was…there are many things for the boy to learn but this is a pretty good start since he’ll know more about the people he’s supposed to work with from now on.(edited)

Mataeru:
As the trio passes through the hall, it opens up into a large lounge area with multiple couches, a dining area, bookselves and a fire place
"I never worked for the Lotus. I saw what she caused the Tenno to do during the victory ceremony, and while I was glad to finally be free of our evil masters, I was also disgusted with how she lied to and tricked the Tenno. I am the leader of a formerly Orokin hit squad called the Veiled Tenno. This is our primary sanctuary and base of operations."

Devros von Inie
Whoa, it feels like it’s been ages since the last time Devros has seen so many Orokin books in one place – something he’s been missing dearly since the awakening cause he’s a real addict when it comes to stories and for whatever reason they don’t seem to exist that much anymore due to data being pushed over to digital dispersion in this modern era. If you want to know something there is always a cephalon at service, rather than doing it the oldie way of going out a fetching a book for it.

His eyes quickly light up with joy as he scanned them from afar, almost missing what the other was saying due to how captivated he was by them

“Hm?...”

He hummed as he walked towards the bookshelf. Lifting a hand, he glides it across their titles as if by doing it he could feel their content. All the while he listened to Mataeru speak of the Lotus

“In a way, yer are right…’owever she wus al' dat we 'ad after findin' oyt dat everythin' we knew av 'ad changed..”

He paused his wandering hand to look over his shoulder to Mataeru

“It wus either 'er or loneliness, an' sum couldn’t 'andle dat”

That might make him sound like he’s defending the Lotus but Devros fears that Mataeru doesn’t know of the predicament most of the Tenno were put in since the awakening. Sure, Lotus is shady and her ways are the ways of a warlord but there is no denying it that she was a rock for a lot of Tenno. Then again, Mataeru had wandered along for decades so he's had it worse

“But”
He added, not lifting his head from the book as he spoke “Oi shan’t miss 'er, she is 'eadin' down a patt dat oi won’t folly. i’m puttin' me trust ter yer an' de Orokin Remnant In de 'opes for peace.”(edited)

Mataeru:
he ofers a shallow bow in thanks for the Tenno's owords
"I have intention of making sure that trust is not misplaced."
he then steps over to the Tenno and the bookshelves
"I take it you like reading?"

Devros von Inie
The book he picked up seemed to be a something of a history of the Dax soldiers. Devros always found their order interesting, part cause it was very loyalty driven and part cause of their elite skills in battle. Ever since he met Teshin he’s been fascinated by them…but Teshin isn’t a talkative fellow – and even when he does he insists on talking in very vague phrases or riddles. EH! Now that he has found this library he can read to his hearts content and fill his mind with stories.

Devros twitched in surprise when Mataeru stepped closer cause he was so occupied by the book that he barely noticed the other step so close. Lifting his head, he looks at Mataeru and with a pleased smile, nods.

“Kinda…i loike stories an' me dad 'ad a study room dat wus filled wi' al' kind av books so dis brings me back.”

He let out a soft chuckle as his mind wandered back to a old memory

“He wud git so mad at me cause oi never tidied up after meself, jist lef 'is study in a ‘ames, opened books an' paper everywhere.” (‘ames = mess)

He shakes his head at the nostalgic feeling, not feeling sadness at all cause to Devros they are always with him...in a way. Lifting his gaze he looks at his companion that’s found a temporary home in front of the fireplace, obviously enjoying the cozy warmth of the fire by laying down in to a huge ball of fur, almost obstructing the view of it entirely. Rolling his eyes, he brings them back at Mataeru and lifts the book that he’s been holding

“Oi assume al' av dees are free ter borrow?”

He points at it with a joyful expression, like a child awaiting it's parents permission on the second piece of candy.

Mataeru:
he nods
"So long as they do not leave Sanctuary you may read as many as you wish."
he pauses for a moment before adding with a grin
"And provided you clean up after yourself...."

Devros von Inie
A low chuckle escaped from the bulky boys lips

“I’ll leave it spotless, sir!”

He added a mock salute at the end to give his words a bit of sass. He doesn’t mean to mock Mataeru cause Devros is all about keeping conversation light and in a joking spirit, it makes things more interesting. He then looks back at the bookshelf and greedily eyes the rest of the collection. If eating knowledge was a thing then I’d bet Devros would be a really fat Tenno.

Then, a thought struck him. Looking back at Mataeru he says in his rough voice

“Waaat aboyt livin' area? are dare enoof rooms for al' ter sleep 'ere or sum kip back on thair orbiters?”(edited)

Mataeru:
"We have room enough for twenty people. Worry not, we will be relocating soon to more spacious accomodations."
he bows
"I take it you would like to remain here and explore the base later?"

Devros von Inie
Devros smiled and nodded to Mataeru, offering a sloppy bow of his own

“Aye, Oi 'ill proobably kip 'ere too”

He chuckled under his breath as he pointed to one of the couches with his thumb
