-Lua, Remnant Beacon-
<03/25 DR, 14:44:03>
A Saryn slowly strode through the hallways to the beacon that was
broadcasting this mysterious signal, a massive, white kubrow following
behind it, its shoulder level just below that of the warframe. The Lotus
had warned other Tenno not to approach, but this golden warrior was deaf
to the Lotus's beck and call.
Having heard the
transmission, and the rumors of Tenno going missing here, and of the
Lotus forbidding Tenno from going to this place, Isa felt the need to
investigate for herself. She wondered if, perhaps, there was some new
faction coming into play here, one opposed to the Lotus, or if it was
just a trap set by one of the other primary factions.
It
mattered not to her. For within this frame she was safe from harm. It
would be an annoying loss to replace, but nothing more. Should it die,
she had others she could transfer into.
The Saryn would stop
to inspect the corpses of several warframes as they were spotted,
prodding them with a foot or her rifle, checking the damage they had
sustained, checking them for vitals. Finding that they were indeed dead,
killed by Tenno weapons, she would move on. If not, a shot would echo
out from her Argonak as she put a round into the head of any that had
somehow survived their injuries, not wishing to be approached from
behind.
Isa entered the chamber where the console lie, and
remained standing at the doorway, looking about.
???:
A voice echoes out of the shadows from above in the room with the
console
"You walk without fear, but also with caution. That is a
strong trait for a Tenno to have."
after a brief pause, the voice continues, this time from ground
level
"Tell me, what is that you seek here? Even after the Lotus
warned to stay away?"
Isa:
"I was curious as to what this signal is. And if the
rumors of this place being dangerous are true."
Her voice is distorted, a bit moreso than the usual distortion that
comes when one speak through their warframe.
"Given that I have yet to be killed, I assume the danger is
primarily directed toward the Lotus's Tenno."
Mataeru:
A Tenno steps out of the shadows to the front right of Isa's view
with his hands outstretched in a peaceful gesture. His manduka
suit's hood is pulled back and the suits colors are predominantly
black with red linings, a gold interior, and a unity Sigil glowing
softly on the right side of his chest
"The danger is directed at anyone who would expose us before
we are ready. Is your curiosity merely for the signal?"
he raises his eyebrow in bemusement(edited)
Isa:
The Saryn remains stationary, its rifle still at rest, but no doubt
ready to be raised in an instant to fire at the Tenno in front of her,
and any other threats that may arise.
"The signal and its creators, yes. I had assumed it to be a
trap lain by the Corpus, Grineer, or Sentients, only to find warframes
slain by Tenno weapons. Such a thing would pique the curiosity of any
inquisitive mind, would it not?"
Mataeru:
"A fair question."
he eyes the Saryn for a moment before continuing
"This signal was designed to filter out those who desire
true peace in the Origin system from those who merely exist, doing what
is necessary to survive."
Mataeru:
"We will be the only one fighting everyone at the
same time. The Lotus, the Grineer, the Corpus, the Sentients and
INfested, and even the other Syndicates if need be. Rather than
"keep the balance" as the Lotus is so intent on doing, we will
bring a new balance to the Origin system and remove the Lotus from her
seat of power."
he slowly crosses his arms and rests his weight on his right leg as he
speaks
Isa:
"Interesting. I assume, then, that you set up this
beacon to recruit those who would like to assist you. And given your
description, I assume that you have yet to actually formulate a
plan."
The voice echoes out from the warframe. Then there is silence for a
moment before it speaks again.
"I am interested in joining this group of yours."
Mataeru:
"Your first assumption is correct, but your second
is not. I have a plan, we simply need more power."
he raises his eyebrow at her remark about joining and looks the Saryn
dead in the eye
"Before I welcome you to our number, tell me this. Where do
your allegiances lie?"
Isa:
"I have close ties to Cephalon Suda and the Steel
Meridian, and through Suda, some connection to the Arbiters of Hexis.
The only contact I have ever had with the Lotus, however, is through the
odd encounter with her Tenno, mostly when performing tasks for one of
the syndicates."
There was another short pause.
"Still. I would like to see what alternative viewpoints you
provide. The Arbiters are not Tenno, and thus cannot understand them as
well as another Tenno can. Suda is a cephalon whose only goal is the
acquisition and preservation of knowledge. The Meridian have never
experienced peace before, and unlike the Tenno who were molded for war,
they were bred for it. I feel that they would not know what to do should
peace be attained, and as such any stability they bring would not be
long-lasting."
Mataeru:
He chuckles softly for a moment before his gaze returns to its former
intensity
"You misunderstand my question. Let me ask it again
differently. What do you believe in? What will you fight for until your
dying breath?"
Isa:
The Saryn shifts, remaining silent for a few moments, seemingly
unsure.
"That is something I am still searching for."
Mataeru:
he smiles and nods gesturing her to follow as he disappears. An Ash
Prime steps out of the shadows behind where he just stood a moment
later, looking back over it's shoulder
"Then perhaps we can help you find it."
Mataeru:
"Our numbers are low at the present, but each new
Tenno bolsters our strength significantly. I also thank you for not
wildly shooting as soon as I started speaking and then as soon as you
saw me. Most of the dead Warframes you saw in that room did
so..."
he leads her off down a hallway opposite the one she entered the room
by
Isa:
"Attacking you would be foolish. You showed no hostile
intent at first, and, more importantly, I did not know what forces you
had as backup. You would have likely simply transferred back into your
frame, at which point one or both of us would suffer the inconvenience
of a destroyed warframe."
She says, her speech monotone as she analyzed the situation.
"Only a fool strikes unprepared unless the situation is
desperate."
Mataeru:
he chuckles quietly as they wind through a few more hallways and stop
at what appears to be a dead end
"Do you hail from Naramon? Because you sound like one of
us."
Isa:
"Madurai."
She responded.
"I was taught the other schools' philosophies, but it
was found that I lack the ability to not be... destructive with my
energy."
Mataeru:
The Ash stops for a moment and turns to face the Saryn for a few
moments
"It is unjust to classify you based on your void prowess...
What school do you identify with the most on a philosophical
level?"(edited)
Isa:
"I do not subscribe to a single philosophy. They all
have their place, but I do, as you believe, lean primarily towards
Naramon. It is best to know your enemy as much as possible before
battle. However, once engaged in a battle, I subscribe to Madurai. Fight
with all the fury you have and destroy them before they act. I believe
the two schools compliment each other well: know your opponent, then
strike as quickly and devastatingly as you can at their weakest
point."
Isa:
The Saryn returns the bow.
"Iya Pekyket, or as the Orokin called me, Isa Tekchen, low
guardian of the Venara and her crew."
Depending upon the access Mataeru had to military reports, and how
often he read them, he may know that the Venara went missing near the
end of the Old War, presumed destroyed by Sentient attack.
Mataeru:
"So you are Corpus by birth. Interesting. What were
you assigned to guard on board your vessel?"
He steps into the
hall behind the wall-door and waits for the Saryn to follow*
Isa:
"My individual task was to guard an Orokin official by
the name of Kelden. He was not the captain of the vessel, but in charge
of whatever mission it was on. I was not privy to that
information."
She answered, following along behind the Ash.
"Regardless, the mission failed. Kelden and the rest of the
crew died to a Sentient attack."
Mataeru:
he looks over his shoulder in intrigue as he resumes leading the
way
"And here you stand. How did you survive
that?"(edited)
Isa:
"I was severely damaged, trapped, and left for
dead."
She said.
"Six-hundred or so years later, Corpus scavengers uncovered
me."
Mataeru:
he stops suddenly and turns to face the Saryn
"You were awake for six hundred years? How have you not lost your sanity? Why did you not use
your transference to leave your frame?"
Isa:
"My body was in a cryopod to ensure I did not leave my
frame. They did not believe I could control my void abilities enough to
avoid harming those I was trying to protect. As for my sanity, when left
with no stimulus for long enough, time tends to go rather quickly,
I've found."
She stares at the Ash, remaining monotone.
Mataeru:
"That I can believe..."
his voice trails off as he leads the way again
"So tell me, what strengths do you possess? What unique
abilities do youhave to offer?"
Isa:
"I am quite skilled in battle, my weaknesses lie in
stealth operations, but in an all out assault, or when used as a violent
diversion, I excel at drawing attention. Beyond that, I am skilled at
repairing and manufacturing most technology, especially Orokin and
Corpus. I am fluent in Corpus and Grineer, and lack the accent I've
found other Tenno have when speaking Corpus, as it is my first
language."
Mataeru:
"That is quite a useful set of skills. Especially
your lack of an Orokin accent in Corpus. You will likely have an
integral role in our coming conquest."
The hallway exits into a comfortable furnished longue room with
multiple chairs and couches, some orokin instruments, bookshelves filled
with orokin literature and history texts, as well as a fireplace and a
dining table
"Welcome to our current base of operations."
Isa:
Isa gazes critically at the lounge room for about 3 seconds before
turning to Mataeru.
"I assume you plan to move it to another location soon.
Having it so close to the beacon you use to attract the attention of
other Tenno is unwise. Should one manage to escape, your entire base
would be revealed, not just your recruiting post."
Mataeru:
"Do you remmeber those corpses you passed on the way
here? Even if they had survived, they would not be able to locate this
area. However, due to our increasing numbers, we will likely have to
relocate. We may move to the Sanctuary on Earth."
Isa:
"I feel you underestimate the other Tenno. Still, given
that the Lotus has apparently warned against coming here, it should be
relatively safe from them. I do hope you clean up those corpses, I would
hate to see the resources within those warframes go to
waste."
Mataeru:
he chuckles
"Perhaps when we leave I will deal with the Warframe
corpses. However, they create an Aesthetic I rely on to keep this area
safe."
Isa:
She nods.
"I understand their presence is necessary. I only ask that
you not waste them when you do relocate."
The Saryn looks around now.
"How many others do you have here? This place seems...
empty."
Mataeru:
"We have 6 or 7 at the present. Including you
and I. I would like to have 12 to 15 before we try even consider moving
from this location."
he walks over to one of the couches and stands behind it, transferring
out of his frame to sit on the couch in front of it
Isa:
"I see."
The Saryn looks about once more before transferring out of her frame,
appearing next to it, then finding a seat on the couch opposite to
Mataeru.
"Was this your headquarters during the Old War?"
She asks, her voice having the small amount of buzzing distortion that
was common among the Corpus due to having her larynx replaced.
Mataeru:
"It was indeed. Although, the other Sanctuaries on
each planet were furnished much like this one."
he leans forward
"I can I get you anything to eat or drink?"
Isa:
She shakes her head.
"I am fine. I primarily eat nutrition bars designed to
provide a well-balanced diet for my lifestyle. They include additional
chemicals processed by my implants to keep them powered. I would like to
know the purpose of these Veiled Tenno of yours. I assume that is a
designation you were given during the Old War."
Mataeru:
he nods
"We were trained by the Orokin to hunt down and either kill
or capture rogue Tenno. We also were used to assassinate lower level
Orokin officials who angered the Executors, as well as infiltrated enemy
command center's to extract data. There are twenty of us total, but
for some bizarre reason, the Cryopods are not responding to the prompt
to open, and have been opening of their own accord...."
Isa:
She frowns in thought at the last comment.
"Interesting. I would be willing to take a look, though I
imagine you would rather not risk your comrades with my
tinkering."
Mataeru:
"I would prefer not. I have already tried everything
there is to try. There is just some unknown error preventing the pods
from opening."
he sighs and leans back in the chair
"How long ago were you rescued from that ship you were
trapped on? The Venara?"
Isa:
"Fourteen years."
She answers succinctly.
"Long enough to have learned what's going on in the
system."
Mataeru:
he nods slowly pondering the answer for a time
"That is a fair amount of time..."
he then looks at her once more
"What form of work do you do when not fighting?"
Isa:
"I enjoy working in biology and biomechanics. Creating
and refurbishing proxies, or breeding plants and animals in particular.
I find life.. and intelligence - organic or inorganic - to be...
fascinating."
There was a certain gleam in her eyes, and a certain tone to her voice
that changed as she spoke. It hinted towards a passion for such things,
though there was something strangely off about the way she said it, an
unusual level of passion where before she spoke with none.
Mataeru:
he smiles
"Then you will enjoy this. Come, I have something to show
you.."
he gestures her to follow him as he stands up and starts walking deeper
into the base
Isa:
She raises an eyebrow at the comment, but stands and follows quietly,
holding her hands behind her back as she looks around, a somewhat
judgmental expression on her face.
Mataeru:
He leads to her through another hallway and stops at a small door,
opening it to reveal a small foundry and computer console
"This foundry has blue prints for all Orokin Era tech and
that computer operates it. You can fabricate anything from Orokin MOAs
to Orokin Drones to Warframe's and weapons. However, the database
does not currently hold many of the modern weapons. If you would like to
update the archive with new data you have my permission to do
so."(edited)
Isa:
Isa stops to look around the foundry as they enter. She seems to
somewhat approve at least.
"Ah, wonderful. The use of Orokin proxies could provide a
much needed boost in the strength of your little syndicate. I would be
most willing to work on updating the archive with more modern weapons,
as well. It is good that you have managed to preserve this
knowledge."
Mataeru:
"I am not done yet though."
he gestures her to follow him once more
"I have one more location to show you."
Isa:
"Very well then."
She nodded and would once more follow along quietly, ever
observant.
Mataeru:
He leads her a few doors down before stopping and opening another one,
revealing a small lab like room with various (and small) samples of
infested flesh and technocyte
"There were scientists among our number, and they used this
laboratory to perform their experiments. I get the feeling you would put
this to use."
Isa:
"Ah, a biology lab, how useful."
She said, walking about, examining various portions of the lab.
"Do you have the equipment to replicate Grineer and Corpus
technology as well? If not, do you have the room to expand the base to
include these?"
Mataeru:
"Seeing as the Corpus and Grineer were not thriving
Empires with their own diverse weapons five hundred years ago, I do not.
As for expansion.... That might be possible. But it would cause a significant amount of noise.
Unless you were to reconfigure rooms outside Sanctuary to suit those
needs."
Isa:
"I see. I guessed that you did not have such equipment,
but I thought it best to ask, as you may have added such things
yourself. Relocation would be useful, then, giving us the room we need
to expand and add equipment that will be useful for our
cause."
Mataeru:
"I already have plans for that. We just need someone
with Sectarus blood, or a lead on an Orokin Tower with an uncorrupted
cephalon..."
he leans against the doorway and crosses his arms
"I intend to bring an orokin Tower to into orbiter around
Earth once we begin our conquest..."
Isa:
"Why not keep it within the void?"
She tilts her head as she turns to look at him.
"It would be safer there. Grineer and Corpus don't have
the capability to enter the void with their ships, and the Sentients die
within it."
Mataeru:
he chuckles
"Who said that would be the only Orokin tower we take over?
We need at least one to begin with that we can use offensively, and then
we will need another stationed safely in the void to house refugees and
soldiers that decide to help us. We would use void gates to travel
between the twoers and key locations across the System."
Isa:
She nods.
"Yes, that is a sound plan. The difficulty lies in finding
someone of Sectarus descent."
Mataeru:
"Indeed. If any such person still exists. We may be
forcied to search toers until we find one with a working, or, at the
very least, a salvageable cephalon."
he crosses his arms
"You strike me as the kind of person who has many
connections. WOuld you know people who may have connections to such
knowledge?"
Isa:
"Suda may be of assistance, provided you are willing to
trust her. I do have other connections beyond the syndicates,
however, I do have a few... connections within the Corpus, primarily a
small biotechnology company. I could, perhaps, try to get them to search
for those with of Sectarus descent, if provided the genetic code for
them."
Mataeru:
he raises his eyebrow
"Would your Corpus contacts be able to be
discreet?"
Isa:
"Perhaps. I don't believe the Corpus would exactly
recognize a Sectarus DNA sequence as being what it is. I could perhaps
push them towards finding those with similar DNA to push for some new
product. If they can find a way to market some drug to them to treat any
sort of conditions that commonly occur in people of Sectarus descent,
they would simply think it to be another product line. This could work
even better if I added in a few other DNA sequences to be researched
alongside the Sectarus one."
Mataeru:
he strokes his chin in thought
"I will keep that in consideration. It may be our best shot
at controlling a tower."
he pauses for a moment before continuing
"Do you intend to sleep on your orbiter? If not, I can show
you to the barracks.."
Isa:
"Let me know if you would like me to convince them to
perform a search. As for the room. Yes... I prefer privacy of my orbiter
over sleeping in a barracks. I am rather... solitary by nature. I have
been since before my forced solitude. Though, I will likely spend much
of my free time here to... meet your other members."
Isa:
"I will."
She turned away from him to begin looking over the lab some more.
Disruptis:
The door to the lab slid open with a woosh. A black and yellow Limbo
donning a yellow cloak and hood strode into the room. A pink droid
slightly resembling an osprey floated close behind.
The Limbo
was in the middle of speaking as he entered. “Alright alright XerAI, I’ll leave you to handle
that. I’m gonna brush up on so--,” he cut off his sentence and froze as he noticed the new Tenno.
“Oh! Hello there.” He exclaimed in
surprise.(edited)
Isa:
She turned around and gazed at the Limbo a few moments, her yellow eyes
flicking between the frame and its companion.
"Ah, one of Mataeru's other followers. I was wondering
where all of them were."
Her somewhat monotone voice came through as somewhat distorted by her
artificial larynx, a rather common modification among the Corpus
.
Disruptis:
The Limbo tilted his head to the right slightly while his companion
issued a soothing humming sound. “Mataeru’s followers? Are you not part of the
Remnant?”
Isa:
"I am, though I have only just arrived. I would not
consider myself a follower yet, as I have yet to have my loyalty
tested."
Disruptis:
An Operator stepped out from the Limbo warframe, wearing an open koppra
hood and laurel wreath ((Picture in my bio)). He tilted his head a
little and gave a wide, disarming grin. “Well, that’s good enough for me. The name’s
Disruptis, who are you?”
Isa:
"Isa."
She answered before turning her back to continue looking through the
information being displayed on the console in front of her, seeing how
much of this old data was of actual use to her, and how much she would
have to add in to this database.
Disruptis:
Disruptis strolled towards a small tank off to the side of the room.
Two mechanical arms stood on either side of the glass connected to the
tank by a central console. He booted it up. “So what brings you to the bio lab, Isa?” He asked.
Isa:
"Mataeru was showing me the sanctuary. It seems the
information in here could be updated, as could the data within the
foundry. I am looking to see what needs updating, and if there is any
information within this database that I did not yet have access
to."
Her gaze did not rise from the console as she answered his
question.
"Furthermore, biology is a subject I am rather interested
in."
~The lab doors opened for a moment, before closing. No one seemed to enter, although soon enough, it appeared that a rather short, monkey-like, infested-looking creature wearing what looked like an adult diaper waddled across the room, with a toolbox in hand. It looked left, and then right, as if checking for something. It opened the box, taking out several vials of orange fluid, depositing them into a centrifuge. It started the machine up with a hum, and then closed its toolbox up and waddled back towards the doors. It turned to Isa as it passed her, waving at her and making a gurgle noise with its vertically-aligned mouth, before passing through the doors and disappearing.~
Disruptis:
Disruptis chuckled. “Well that’s good because biology hates me. Having
another Tenno good at it makes me feel better.” He punched in a needlessly long and complicated password into the
console before him. The two mechanical arms extended and retracted their
incredibly small grabbers as they warmed up.
Isa:
"Then what exactly brings you to the bio lab?" She asks, stopping her work to look at the small infested creature. Her
eyes flash a moment as the thought of incinerating it crosses her mind,
though this creature appears to be useful, perhaps belonging to another
member.
Disruptis:
“Well, I don’t let that get me down. I need
to know the basics of cloning and stem cell research so I can at least
understand you guys.” Disruptis turned around, his attention immediately fixating on the now
active centrifuge. The Tenno cocked his head and pointed towards the
machine. “Did you just start that?”
Isa:
"No, a small infested creature did, no doubt someone
else's creation here." She doesn't look up from her console. "Somewhat surprising. I did not expect such a liberal view
of the infestation within this group."
Disruptis:
“Ah, must’ve been Mephalus. And no, by the
way, Mataeru keeps the infested workers at the butt end of a ten foot
pole. I don’t know why though. All of our suits are practically
infested tissue as well, so being uneasy around infestation is kinda
ironic.” Disruptis walked over to and peered inside the centrifuge, trying to
get a glimpse of what Mephalus was up to.
~Disruptis manages to see several vials of an orange fluid, all spinning at a high speed.~
Disruptis:
He flipped the switch on one of the vials in order to stop it and get a
good look inside.
~Each of the vials seems to have a label on it. Looking at the nearest
one, Disruptis can just make out what the label reads:
"-RNING.
DO NOT STOP AGITATING THIS SAMPLE, MOTHERFU-"
Disruptis
would also notice that within the slowly settling fluid, some kind of of
dark brown blob was slowly beginning to coalesce. It would've been
easily mistaken for some kind of precipitate, at least until it opened
an eye and blinked at him.~(edited)
Disruptis:
Disruptis slammed the switch back on, returning the vial to its dizzy
demise. “This guy, I swear. He's gonna bring this whole place
down someday,” he mumbled under a grin.
Isa:
"Generally stopping a centrifuge before it is finished
is ill advisable."
Isa says, acting like she's not scolding Disruptis, though the
remark is clearly aimed at him.
"It can disrupt an experiment and ruin hours if not days of
work."
Disruptis:
“Generally yes, but not when it is this specific
tenno’s experiments.” He turned his head towards Isa and gave a wink and another grin. “At least, not if your fast enough. Most of the
time.” Disruptis returned to his original machine.
Isa:
"Either way, unless something is going dangerously
wrong, it is best not to interfere."
Disruptis:
"Don't worry, I’m not gonna be doing the
same stuff to your work if you choose to slap something in a machine
here." Disruptis replied. He plunged his arms into two containers of what
seemed to be some sort of gelatinous substance on either side of the
console, the gels molding to fit the figure of his appendages. As he
moved his fingers inside, the robotic arms that were once resting inside
the glass container now whirred and clicked, mimicking his
movements.
Isa:
"Good. Disrupting any of my experiments would be most
unfortunate. If you do happen to do so, inform me." She says. "All variables must be accounted for, including..." She paused, trying to find a polite word. "Incompetence."
She finishes looking through the console and deactivates it. "I've seen what I need to. If you need me I will be
looking over things in the foundry, then returning to my ship."
She leaves the room without waiting for a response.
